Why Add Color?

Plain numbers work, but colors speak faster. With LabCollector’s LSM color gradient feature (available on the latest version v4.0948), labs can now visualize results at a glance, whether you’re comparing glucose levels or tracking PCR amplification thresholds, you no longer have to hunt for outliers – they’ll jump right off the page.

For example, in a diagnostic lab running 500+ patient samples a day, highlighting only the abnormal test results saves time during review and allows for faster reactions by lab technicians.

What's New?

The color gradient tool lets you set up threshold-based color coding for your test results.
You decide:

  • Which value ranges to highlight

  • What color to use for low, in-range, and high values

  • Whether to apply this to numeric or calculated fields

It’s fully flexible. This works even when your thresholds are dynamic or depend on other parameters.

🛠️ How to Use It?

  • Go to LSM > Admin > Preferences > Parameters, then choose the test level

  • Choose the “numeric” or “calculated field” data type

  • Set your numeric ranges: Low, In-range, High

  • Pick a custom color for each

  • Add the tag ##results_meter## to your report template

Voilà! Your reports now show color bars that match the results, so your team and clients see what’s critical, fast.

💡 Some Use Cases:

🔬 Hematology:
Automatically highlight low hemoglobin or high white blood cell counts. Works great for quick clinician review.

⚗️ PCR Workflows:
Create a color-coded Ct average output. Instantly spot values over 35 or failed runs based on your own scale.

🌊 Water Quality & Food Safety:
Color thresholds for pesticide levels, contamination markers, or residue detection, even if they’re pulled from averages or formulas.

Science is hard. Reading results shouldn’t be.

This small feature brings a big impact: it helps your lab become faster, smarter, and easier to trust. Let your results speak for themselves in color.
